Anomie
Anomie refers to a state of society or an individual characterized by a breakdown or absence of social norms, leading to a sense of disorientation, confusion, and disorganization. This concept was first introduced by French sociologist Émile Durkheim in his book "The Division of Labor in Society", where he described anomie as a result of rapid social change and the erosion of traditional norms and values. Anomie can occur in various contexts, including Industrial societies undergoing rapid modernization, or in individuals experiencing Existential longing and disconnection from their community. The concept of anomie is closely related to Kinship and Social structures, and is often studied in the context of Civil Rights and Resource Management.
