Auxins

Auxins are a class of plant hormones that play a crucial role in plant growth and development, influencing cell elongation, cell division, and differentiation. They are involved in various physiological processes, including Phototropism, Gravitropism, and Apical dominance. Auxins are produced in the shoot apices and are transported to other parts of the plant, where they regulate various developmental processes. The discovery of auxins is attributed to Charles Darwin and his son Francis Darwin, who first observed the phenomenon of phototropism in plants. Auxins have been extensively studied in the field of Plant physiology and have applications in Agriculture and Horticulture. They interact with other plant hormones, such as Ethylene and Cytokinin, to regulate plant growth and development.
