Concurrency (programming)
Concurrency in programming refers to the ability of a program or system to perform multiple tasks simultaneously, improving overall system performance, responsiveness, and throughput. This concept is closely related to Parallel computing, where multiple tasks are executed at the same time, and Multithreading, which allows a program to execute multiple threads of execution concurrently. Concurrency is essential in modern computing, enabling efficient use of CPU resources, improving System responsiveness, and supporting Real-time systems. It is achieved through various techniques, including Synchronization primitives, Locks (computer science), and Semaphores (computer science). Concurrency is a fundamental concept in Operating Systems, Computer Networks, and Distributed systems, and is used in a wide range of applications, from Web servers to Embedded systems.
