Cross-bedding
Cross-bedding refers to a geological phenomenon where layers of sedimentary rock are deposited at an angle to the main bedding plane, often indicating a change in the direction of water or wind flow during the deposition process. This structure is commonly observed in Sedimentary rocks and can provide valuable information about the Paleoenvironment and Depositional processes that occurred in the past. Cross-bedding can be seen in various types of rocks, including Sandstone and Conglomerate, and is often used as an indicator of Ancient river or Coastal environments. The study of cross-bedding is an important aspect of Geology and Stratigraphy, as it can help scientists reconstruct the geological history of an area and understand the processes that shaped the Landscape.
