Curvature (geometry)
Curvature is a fundamental concept in Geometry, measuring how much a curve or surface deviates from being straight or flat. It plays a crucial role in understanding the properties of Manifolds, which are geometric objects that can be curved or flat. The concept of curvature is closely related to the work of Carl Friedrich Gauss, who introduced the concept of Gaussian curvature to describe the curvature of surfaces. In Differential geometry, curvature is used to study the properties of curves and surfaces, and is an essential tool for understanding Triangulation (geometry). Curvature is also important in Topology, where it is used to study the properties of shapes and spaces.
