Digestive system

The digestive system is a complex process by which the body breaks down and absorbs Nutrients from the food we eat, involving a series of Organs and Enzymes that work together to convert food into energy and Waste products. This process begins in the Mouth, where food is chewed and mixed with Saliva that contains Enzymes to break down Carbohydrates. The food then passes through the Esophagus and into the Stomach, where it is further broken down by Acids and Enzymes. The partially digested food then enters the Small intestine, where most of the Nutrient absorption takes place, aided by Microbiome and Innate immunity. The remaining waste products then move into the Large intestine, where Water is absorbed and the waste is prepared for Elimination.
