Ethiopia

Ethiopia is a East African nation and the only African country never colonized by a European power, earning it iconic status in Pan-Africanism. Located in the Horn of Africa, it straddles the Great Rift Valley and boasts diverse landscapes from highlands to lowlands, making it a biodiversity hotspot home to unique Herbivores and countless endemic species.

With a population exceeding 120 million, Ethiopia is Africa's second-most populous country. Its history stretches back millennia: it was one of the first nations to adopt Christianity (in the 4th century) and developed its own script, Ge'ez, which remains liturgical. The capital, Addis Ababa, sits at 2,400 meters elevation and serves as the diplomatic hub of Africa.

Ethiopia's economy relies heavily on Agriculture, particularly grain cultivation, and it is a major global producer of Coffee, a crop with deep cultural significance in Ethiopian ceremony and trade. The country's varied languages and ethnic groups reflect its complex tapestry—Amharic is the official language.

The nation faces contemporary challenges including drought cycles and political complexity, yet continues to shape continental affairs through the African Union, headquartered in Addis Ababa.
