Fire

Fire is a rapid chemical reaction between a fuel and oxygen, releasing heat, light, and often smoke. It is one of humanity's most transformative discoveries, reshaping social organization, survival, and our relationship with Earth.

Fire requires three elements—fuel, oxygen, and heat—known as the fire triangle. Once ignited, it sustains itself through convection, spreading outward as it consumes available material. Temperatures can range from candleflame (around 1000°C) to industrial furnaces exceeding 1500°C.

Controlled fire enabled cooking, which improved nutrition and digestion. It provided warmth, light, and protection, allowing humans to expand into colder climates and extend active hours. Fire also became central to food preparation, metalworking, and Pottery.

Yet fire is also destructive. Wildfires shape ecosystems, kill Wildlife, and threaten communities. Understanding fire behavior—through combustion science, soil analysis, and historical study—remains vital for prevention and safety.

Modern fire science examines ignition thresholds, fire codes, and ecological role. Fire remains simultaneously sacred, dangerous, and essential.
