Homosexuality

Homosexuality is romantic and sexual attraction between people of the same gender. The term describes both the orientation itself and the lived experience of LGBTQ+ individuals, spanning diverse cultures, histories, and expressions across time.

Human sexuality exists on a spectrum; homosexuality represents one point on this continuum. Like all orientations, it involves emotional bonds, physical attraction, and psychological connection. Historical records reveal same-sex relationships in ancient Greece, Rome, Indigenous cultures, and many other societies, though cultural attitudes have varied enormously.

Modern understandings emerged through Biology, Psychology, and Sociology, which approach homosexuality as a natural variation in human experience rather than a disorder or choice. Social differentiation around sexual orientation has profound consequences for Power, legal rights, and access to institutions like Marriage.

LGBTQ+ movements have fought for recognition, safety, and dignity, achieving significant legal victories in numerous countries while facing ongoing discrimination elsewhere. Contemporary discussions explore the interplay between biological factors, cultural context, and individual identity formation.
