How we dress

"How we dress" encompasses the choices, practices, and systems through which humans adorn themselves—a phenomenon spanning psychology, culture, economics, and nature.

Dress is simultaneously practical and symbolic. We layer materials for protection against atmospheric conditions, yet our selections broadcast Social status, Aesthetics, religious affiliation, and Gender identity. These choices reflect values: Sustainability, Fair trade, Animal welfare.

Across urbanized societies, fashion cycles accelerate through distribution networks and social visibility. Yet traditional Dress codes persist in ceremonies, workplaces, and sacred contexts. Ayurvedic and other medical traditions even prescribe garments for health.

The act of dressing reveals spatial awareness—fitting bodies into geometries of cloth. It's integration of identity with the external world, a daily procedure of self-presentation that shifts across contexts, time, and possibility.
