Impact Crater
An impact crater is a depression formed in the surface of a planet or moon as a result of a collision with a large object from space, such as an Asteroid or Comet. The impact causes massive destruction and displacement of the surface material, resulting in a crater. Impact craters can be found on many planets and moons in our Solar System, including the Moon and Mars. The study of impact craters provides valuable insights into the Geology and History of a planet or moon. Scientists, such as geologists and astrophysicists, use various techniques, including Remote Sensing and Seismology, to study impact craters and understand their formation and evolution. Impact craters can also be related to Mass Extinction events, such as the one that occurred on Earth during the Cretaceous period.
