Interior Design
Interior design is the art and practice of shaping indoor spaces to be both beautiful and functional. It bridges aesthetics, Structural Engineering, psychology, and practical problem-solving—transforming rooms into environments that support how people live, work, and gather.
A skilled interior designer considers everything: Color theory and Lighting, Furniture arrangement and Volume, building codes and Sustainable Building practices. They source materials with ethical care, select finishes that balance durability with visual appeal, and orchestrate layouts guided by Geometric principles. The best designs feel inevitable, as if the space was always meant to be that way.
Interior design differs from Landscape Architecture (which shapes outdoor spaces) and Architecture itself (which designs buildings from the ground up). Yet all three collaborate: an interior designer might work within the shell an architect creates, sometimes even influencing it.
The discipline draws on centuries of cultural knowledge—from Japanese Tea Ceremony aesthetics to Indian spatial harmony to contemporary Minimalism. Today it increasingly embraces renewable materials, carbon-conscious choices, and neuroscientific insights about how environments affect mood and focus.
