Landscapes
Landscapes refer to the visible features of an area of land, including physical elements such as landforms, water bodies, and vegetation, as well as human-made features like Buildings and Places. The study of landscapes is an interdisciplinary field that draws on Geology, Ecology, and Architecture to understand the complex relationships between the natural and built environments. Herbert Simon's work on Complexity theory has influenced the study of landscapes, highlighting the importance of understanding the interactions between different components of a system. Landscapes can be shaped by a range of factors, including Erosion, Deposition, and Tectonic processes, as well as human activities like Excavation and Construction. The concept of Walkability is also closely tied to landscapes, as it refers to the ability of an area to be navigated on foot.
