Leaves
Leaves are the primary organs of plants responsible for photosynthesis, a process that converts light energy into chemical energy, utilizing Chlorophyll and other Pigments. They come in a wide range of shapes, sizes, and colors, adapting to various environments and playing a crucial role in the Water Cycle and Oxygen production. The structure of leaves includes the Petiole, Blade, and Veins, which transport Water and Nutrients. Leaves also have specialized features such as Stomata for gas exchange and Cuticles for water retention. In Autumn, leaves undergo Senescence, changing color and eventually falling off, a process influenced by Day Length and Temperature.
