Parameter (programming)

In Computer science, a parameter is a part of a function or method that is passed when the function is called, allowing the function to operate on different inputs. Parameters are a fundamental concept in Programming languages, enabling Code reuse and modularity. They can be thought of as placeholders for values that will be provided when the function is invoked. Computer scientists, such as Brendan Eich, have developed various programming languages that utilize parameters in different ways. Parameters are also related to resource management, as they can affect how a program uses system resources. The use of parameters is a key aspect of Software development, and is supported by various database management systems and package managers.
