Photorespiration

Photorespiration is a process in Plant roots and Leaf cells where Oxygen is taken in and Carbon dioxide is released, the opposite of CAM photosynthesis and normal Photosynthesis. This process occurs when the Enzyme RuBisCO reacts with Oxygen instead of Carbon dioxide, resulting in a loss of Energy for the Plant. Photorespiration is more common in plants under high Temperature and low Water conditions. It is an important area of study in Botany and Agriculture, as it can affect Crop yields and Quality of life for communities that rely on them. Mathematicians and Biologists use Experiments and Game theory to Predict outcomes and understand the complex interactions involved in photorespiration.
