Vedic period
The Vedic period was a significant era in the history of the Indian subcontinent, spanning from approximately 1500 BCE to 500 BCE, characterized by the development of the Vedas, the oldest scriptures of Hinduism. This period saw the rise of complex societies, with the emergence of Kinship-based communities and the development of a distinct Culture. The Vedic people practiced Agriculture and Pastoralism, and their Society was organized into a hierarchical structure. The period also witnessed significant advancements in Metallurgy, Astronomy, and Mathematics. The Vedas themselves contain a wealth of information on the Spiritual (secular) and Philosophical beliefs of the Vedic people, including concepts such as Being and Existential longing. The Vedic period laid the foundation for the development of Classical Hinduism and had a profound impact on the Culture and Society of South Asia.
