Brain

The brain is the central command center of the Central Nervous System, a three-pound organ that orchestrates thought, sensation, memory, and emotion through roughly 86 billion interconnected neurons. Nestled within the skull and connected downward via the Spinal Cord, it processes incoming information and generates the subjective experience we call consciousness.

The Cerebral Cortex, the brain's wrinkled outer layer, handles higher cognition: language, reasoning, Mathematics, and planning. Deeper structures manage survival functions—hunger, fear, movement. Caffeine, consumed in Coffee Culture, temporarily enhances alertness by blocking fatigue signals. The brain's plasticity means it rewires itself through training and experience, a principle underlying both biological learning and artificial Deep learning models.

Modern neurotechnology now enables direct brain-computer interfaces. Yet mysteries remain: how electrical impulses become subjective feeling, why we dream, what generates Irrational decisions. Ancient thinkers from Greek scholars to Indian physicians pondered the mind's seat, building foundations for today's neuroscience.

The brain consumes roughly 20% of the body's energy despite being only 2% of Weight, making it biology's most demanding organ.
