Convolutional (mathematics)
Convolutional refers to a mathematical operation that combines two functions to produce a feature map, which is a fundamental concept in various fields, including Signal Processing, Image Processing, and Machine Learning. In mathematics, convolutional operations are used to analyze and transform signals, images, and other data. The convolutional operation is closely related to the concept of Regression, where it is used to model complex relationships between variables. Convolutional neural networks, introduced by Yann LeCun, are a type of Machine Learning model that uses convolutional operations to extract features from data. These models have been successfully applied to various tasks, including Image Processing, Natural Language Processing, and Speech Recognition.
