Event horizon

An event horizon is the boundary surrounding a Black hole beyond which nothing—not even light—can escape. It marks the point of no return in spacetime.

At the event horizon, the black hole's gravitational pull becomes so extreme that the escape velocity equals the speed of light. Once anything crosses this threshold, it is inevitably drawn toward the singularity at the center. The term itself reflects a profound truth: events occurring beyond the horizon remain forever hidden from the outside universe, making it an absolute boundary of causality and information.

Event horizons come in different sizes depending on the black hole's mass. Stellar black holes formed from collapsed stars have horizons measured in kilometers, while supermassive black holes at galactic centers span millions of kilometers. The famous Schwarzschild radius describes the exact size of a non-rotating black hole's event horizon.

Event horizons remain one of physics' most mysterious and counterintuitive features—places where our understanding of space, time, and matter breaks down, inviting deeper investigation into the nature of reality itself.
