Islam

Islam is one of the world's major Religious traditions, founded in seventh-century Arabia by the Prophet Muhammad. With nearly two billion adherents across Africa, Asia, and beyond, it shapes diverse cultures, philosophies, and ways of life.

The word "Islam" means submission to God (Allah in Arabic). Muslims—those who practice Islam—follow the Quran, believed to be God's final revelation, alongside teachings from Muhammad's life (Hadith). Central to Islamic practice are the Five Pillars: declaration of faith, daily prayer, charitable giving (Zakat), fasting during Ramadan, and pilgrimage to Mecca.

Islam emphasizes Monotheism, social justice, and community (Ummah). Its intellectual heritage profoundly influenced Art, Chemistry, Mathematics, and Medicine during the Islamic Golden Age. Muslims interpret their faith differently—Sunni and Shia branches represent the largest divisions—and Islamic law (Sharia) varies across regions and communities.

Today, Islam remains dynamic and diverse, with believers ranging from ultraconservative to progressive interpretations. It coexists with and influences modern Politics, Science, and Culture globally.
