Muslims

Muslims are people who follow Islam, a major world religion centered on belief in one God (Allah) and the teachings of the prophet Muhammad. With approximately 1.8 billion adherents across the globe, Muslims form diverse communities spanning different cultures, languages, and traditions—from Indonesia to Morocco, from urban centers to remote villages.

The word "Muslim" simply means "one who submits" to God's will. Muslims follow the Quran, Islam's holy text, and organize spiritual life around the Five Pillars: declaration of faith, prayer, charitable giving, fasting, and pilgrimage. Islam has produced rich traditions in Philosophy, Mathematics, Medicine, Architecture, Cuisine, and the Arts.

Internally, Muslims embrace considerable diversity. Major branches include Sunni and Shia traditions, alongside many schools of Islamic law. Individual Muslims interpret their faith differently based on Culture, personal conviction, and local custom.

Understanding Muslims requires recognizing both shared beliefs and vast internal variation—a group unified by Faith yet expressed through billions of distinct lives and perspectives across human Civilization.
