Plasma (state of matter)

Plasma is the fourth fundamental state of matter, distinct from solids, liquids, and gases. It consists of a hot, ionized gas where Electrons and Ions move freely, creating a electrically conductive fluid that responds to electromagnetic fields.

Plasma forms when gases are heated to extreme temperatures—typically thousands of degrees—or energized by intense radiation or electrical discharge. The Atoms lose their electrons, becoming charged particles that interact dynamically with one another and with surrounding electromagnetic fields.

Though rare on Earth outside laboratories, plasma dominates the visible universe: the Sun and all stars are primarily plasma, as are Lightning, auroras, and neon signs. Fusion Energy research relies heavily on plasma physics, attempting to harness stellar conditions for sustainable power generation.
