Steam Engine
The steam engine is a type of Heat Engine that uses the thermal energy of Steam to produce mechanical work, playing a crucial role in the Industrial Revolution and transforming the way goods were manufactured and transported. It operates by using the expansion and contraction of steam to drive a series of Mechanical Advantage systems, such as Pistons and Cylinders, which ultimately turn a Wheel or Shaft. The concept of the steam engine was first explored by Herons of Alexandria, but it was James Watt who developed the first practical and efficient steam engine in the late 18th century. This innovation had a significant impact on the development of the Factory System and Transportation systems, including Railways and Ships. The steam engine also paved the way for the development of other Thermodynamic systems, such as the Internal Combustion Engine.
