Suprachiasmatic nucleus

The suprachiasmatic nucleus (SCN) is a small group of cells in the Hypothalamus that plays a crucial role in regulating the body's internal clock and Circadian rhythm. It responds to light and dark signals from the environment to synchronize the body's physiological processes with the 24-hour day-night cycle. The SCN is often referred to as the "master clock" because it coordinates the activity of other clocks in the body, such as those in the Liver and Pancreas. This coordination is essential for maintaining proper Sleep patterns, Metabolism, and Hormone regulation. The SCN uses Neurotransmission to communicate with other parts of the brain and body, and its function is influenced by Epigenetics and other factors.
