Barometry
Barometry is the study of Atmospheric pressure and its measurement, which has numerous applications in Weather forecasting, Aviation, and Navigation. The term barometry comes from the Greek words "baros," meaning weight, and "metron," meaning measure. Evangelista Torricelli, an Italian physicist, invented the first Mercury barometer in 1643, which led to a greater understanding of Atmospheric pressure and its relationship to Weather patterns. Barometers are used to measure Altitude and Depth by determining the surrounding pressure.
