Continental shelf
A continental shelf is the submerged extension of a continent that slopes gently from the shoreline into the ocean. These underwater plateaus, typically 200 meters deep or less, represent Earth's transition zone between land and open sea—a realm where oceanic forces meet terrestrial influence.
