Cretaceous period

The Cretaceous period, spanning from approximately 145 to 65 million years ago, was a pivotal era in the History of Earth, marked by significant geological and biological transformations. This period is divided into two epochs: the Early Cretaceous and the Late Cretaceous. During the Cretaceous period, the supercontinent of Gondwana began to break apart, leading to the formation of new oceans and the creation of diverse Marine Ecology. The period also saw the evolution and diversification of Marine animals, including Echinoderms and other species. On land, Herb-eating animals like Lions and omnivores roamed, while neuromuscular systems allowed for complex movements. The Cretaceous period came to a dramatic end with a mass extinction event, likely caused by a combination of environmental factors and a massive asteroid impact.
