Near-Earth object
A near-Earth object (NEO) is a term used to describe any Asteroid, Comet, or other Space debris whose orbit brings it close to the Earth, often within a certain distance from the Sun. These objects are of great interest to Astronomers and Planetary scientists due to their potential to impact the Earth and cause significant damage. The study of NEOs is crucial for understanding the Age and composition of our solar system and for developing strategies for Biodiversity preservation and Ecological health in the face of potential Impact events. NASA and other space agencies around the world are actively involved in tracking and characterizing NEOs using a variety of Laboratory experiments and Telescope observations.
