Space (abstract)

Space in abstract contexts refers to any conceptual, relational, or dimensional framework—not physical location. It's a foundational idea across mathematics, philosophy, design, and social thought.

In Mathematics, space means a set of elements with defined relationships: Riemannian spaces, vector spaces, or parametric spaces where variables interact. Physics uses space as part of spacetime, the fabric linking Cosmic order with measurable phenomena.

In Urban Design and Environmental Design, space becomes habitable: the intervals, voids, and flows that shape human experience. Architects and designers treat space as both constraint and medium—sustainable structures must negotiate with emptiness as skillfully as with material.

Qualitative research and social theory explore social space: the invisible hierarchies, distances, and territories humans construct through culture, power, and Inherited wisdom. Philosophers from Pythagoras onward have used spatial metaphor to map thought itself—the "space of possibilities," the landscape of ideas.

What unites these meanings is abstraction: space without walls, without gravity, yet structured by rules. It's where Balance, dimensionality, and relationship meet.
