Theory of Relativity
The Theory of Relativity is a pair of transformative frameworks that revealed how Gravity, space, and time interweave at cosmic scales. Developed by Albert Einstein in the early 20th century, these theories overturned centuries of Newtonian physics and remain foundational to modern science.
Special Relativity (1905) established that the speed of light is constant for all observers and that space and time are interwoven into "spacetime." It produced the famous equation E=mc², linking energy and mass, and showed that time dilates and lengths contract at high velocities.
General Relativity (1915) reimagined Gravity not as a force, but as the curvature of spacetime caused by mass and energy. Massive objects like the Sun bend spacetime around them, and other objects follow the resulting curves—what we perceive as gravitational attraction. This theory predicts Black Holes, gravitational waves, and the expansion of the universe itself.
The theory's predictions have been repeatedly confirmed: the bending of starlight around the Sun, the precise orbit of Mercury, and the behavior of objects near Black Holes. It remains one of humanity's deepest insights into reality's architecture, bridging the cosmos from galaxies to mathematical elegance.
